The CRNAs that I know have a high job satisfaction. They either work independently or under the supervision of an anesthesiologists. They spend their day sedating or anesthetizing patients for major surgeries or minor procedures. Some jobs require night and weekend call but others are more regular hours with weekends offf.

CRNAs must first become a registered nurse. After that, they need to get a master's degree in nurse anesthesia. The day is busy working under an anesthesiologist to put patients to sleep for surgeries. You will assist in epidurals for women in labor and post-anesthesia recovery in the PACU. I think that it would be a fun and exciting career!

Becoming a nurse anesthetist is a lot of work. Only those with the discipline and desire make it.

The money is great and the work is rewarding. In the end only you can say if the schooling is worth it.
